Anniversary Trip

Josh and I took a MUCH NEEDED Anniversary trip last weekend:) It was SO nice to get away for a few days with just the two of us! We stayed at the Hyatt in Scottsdale and relaxed by the pool. It was awesome! We for sure wanted to stay for awhile longer. Ella had a great time with my mom, so great in fact when we got home she said, "I thought you were going to stay later!" Nice to know she'd be just fine if we did:)

Manitou Springs/Pike's Peak

Last weekend we went to Manitou Springs to see the cliff dwellings and then hiked up Pike's Peak for a picnic. The cliff dwellings were amazing! Ella and Simba had so much fun climbing around inside the different rooms:) Then we found a trail to hike on Pike's Peak. We couldn't make it very far...considering that we had a three year old, a 10 week old puppy and a pregnant lady!! We had a picnic half way through though which was a nice rest!

Tornado!!!

We just had a tornado! We were out doing yard work when it started to rain. We came inside and the tornado warnings came on the TV saying that it was right in our area. We looked outside and it was directly above our neighbors!! We probably should have been in the basement by this point but it was way too cool and we started taking pictures as it grew. It got really scary and we went down to the basement. As soon as we got down there, enormous hail began hitting the house and we lost power. Thankfully it did not touch down in our subdivision but just across the street, it hit our shopping center Southlands. There is a lot of damage over there and all the news helicopters are now flying by. Our power finally just came back on after a couple of hours. The biggest pain of this whole storm is that we had mulch delivered for our backyard and it was dumped in our driveway. Well...our cars were parked in the street becasue of the mulch and we couldn't get them into our garage so now we have some lovely hail damage to both cars!! Totally sucks! After the tornado was gone, Josh wanted to run out and get some of the monster hail balls to look at. It was still coming down so he put a plastic bowl on his head to wear as a helmet...as soon as he went outside he got pelted in the back with one. It was hilarious! Thankfully also, Ella was not here with us. She spent the day with Mimi at the museum and watching a movie. She would have been so freaked out because I for sure was!
